The Club & Its Legacy
Hammond Boxing Club is a USA Boxing–endorsed club at 250 Ogden St in Hammond, Indiana, training kids, adults, amateurs, and professionals. Its shows are sanctioned by USA Boxing.
The Team
One Roof, Every Level
From first-timers to registered amateurs and professionals, everyone trains at the same gym on Ogden Street. The club's roots run deep in Hammond boxing — a lineage carried by coaches like Hammond Sports Hall of Famer Jack Callahan.
What the club is known for is on the walls: kids training after school, coaches in the corner on fight night, and champions with belts.
In Memoriam
Dennis Hardesty
As a manager, coach, promoter, referee, judge, cut man, and advisor, this Clark HS alumnus championed the sport of boxing for 45+ years, beginning in the 1970s.
The hundreds of amateur and professional fighters he trained produced dozens of Golden & Silver Gloves championships and 200+ pro ring victories. Several of his boxers, including locals Amy Yuratovac and Hammond Sports Hall of Famers Jack Callahan & Marty Jakubowski, competed for world titles.
He also advanced boxing as a wholesome activity for disadvantaged youth and a viable exercise program for Parkinson's patients.
